Witton Albion res 0-6 Middlewich Town
SAM Wakefield scored four times for Middlewich Town as they cruised through to the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup last eight.
The front man increased his goal tally for the campaign to 12 at Moss Farm, securing for his side a date with Dukinfield in January.
“He stole the show and is hitting top form,” reflected co-manager Ross Speight afterwards.
“However he’s not the only one.”
Wakefield had a hat-trick before the break, following a deft lifted finish for his first with two more expertly-taken goals.
The Witches were similarly efficient in the second-half, and Wakefield made it 4-0 with a low, driven shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Substitute Nathan Devaney was alert later to score from the rebound after Michael Evans’ penalty had been saved.
Jamie Petrie completed a comfortable victory against a young Albion side – which plays two levels lower in the Crewe and District League’s top-flight – with nine minutes left.
