Cuddington 1 Middlewich Town 0

MIDDLEWICH Town co-manager Ross Speight said he had no complaints after his side surprisingly exited the Mid-Cheshire District FA Challenge Cup at the semi-finals stage.

Kevin Douglas bundled in the only goal from close range with five minutes left to send lower-ranked hosts Cuddington through.

Their reward is a head-to-head with debutants Winsford Saxons, who have already ended the run of two Cheshire League teams.

"Cuddington's players ran themselves into the floor - they deserved to win," said Speight.

"When they had their best spell, they made it count.

"We had good periods of possession too, but found it difficult to get the ball down and play the game we know that we're capable of."

Instead the Witches resume a bid to be promoted from Cheshire League One this Saturday when they visit leaders Billinge.

They kick off that contest fourth in the table, 10 points adrift of first place.

However they have two games in hand.

Middlewich reserves host their Rylands counterparts at Seddon Street.
