FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at a home in Racefield Road yesterday evening after a log burner became out of control.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a house fire at 5.30pm and one fire engine was sent to the scene.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the crew discovered that the fire was confined to a log burner in the living room.

"The fire was caused by an accelerant. Firefighters removed the accelerant from the occupied property and made sure that the log burner and the address as a whole were safe.

"They used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots. Firefighters left the property once they were satisfied it was safe. They were in attendance for around 45 minutes."
