RETIREMENT apartments complex, Willowmere, has been praised for its safe and caring service following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

The ‘extra care housing scheme’, based in East Road, Middlewich, provides accommodation for 79 people living in their own apartments, but with extra personal care available from SOS Homecare Ltd.

The CQC carried an inspection over two days on August 30 and 31, and the findings have now been published.

The inspector has rated the care provided as ‘Good’ and hailed the safety, quality of care, responsiveness, and management.

The inspector said in the report: “All of the people we spoke with felt safe living at Willowmere and in the company of the staff employed by the service. The provider had measures in place to protect people from avoidable harm and abuse.”

The report also quoted several residents who had glowing references for the carers at Willowmere.

“Most of the girls here are amazing,” one resident said. “I have never had as much kindness in my life as I have here.”

Another resident said: “The carers are out of this world. They’re fantastic. It’s the caring, politeness and friendship. They give you that feeling you’re secure. They’re sort of like my family.”
