ACTOR John Thomson avoided getting Cold Feet as he walked over hot coals to help raise money for Millington-based children’s charity, the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

John, a CAFT patron, was joined by his daughter Olivia and 26 other charity supporters for an evening of firewalking on September 29, raising £6,000 in the process.

He said: “It was such fun for myself and Olivia to take part in the firewalk, we weren’t scared at all.

“We found the whole experience very exhilarating and at the same time so rewarding to make some decent sponsorship money for the charity.”

Participants underwent a two-hour training session with professionals Blaze, before rolling up their trouser legs for a barefoot walk across 20ft of glowing, red hot coal.

Family and friends were on hand to cheer them on, before enjoying a barbecue and bar with fire-dancing entertainment from Gravity Live.

CAFT events organiser Pippa Watton said: “This was our ninth Firewalk and it was fantastic, everyone did so well.

“A total of 28 people walked over fire on our behalf, and we’re so grateful to them all. They’ve all worked so hard to fundraise and the money raised will help us to change the lives of countless terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over our region.

“It was such a brilliant night and we must thank our lovely volunteers who fed and watered our guests, and of course John and Olivia for braving the coals on our behalf.”

The money will help CAFT provide holidays and getaways for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and their families.
