THERE was disruption along Holmes Chapel Road this morning, when a truck shed its load of concrete panels.

The driver pulled over and police were on the scene shortly after 10.30am, between the railway bridge and Shell garage.

Due to the loud noise caused by the incident, the Guardian received reports of an 'explosion' from a member of the public in Jersey Way.

The panels - the largest of which was around two square feet - were removed from the carriageway and placed on the pavement, where they will later be collected.

After some short disruption to traffic while the panels were moved, police left the scene at 11.30am and the road remained open.
