FESTIVAL organiser Dave Thompson has praised volunteers after another successful weekend of FAB festivities.

More than 100 dance and music acts from across the globe entertained thousands of visitors over the three day event, which relies on volunteers to take place.

“Physically, I am wrecked,” said Dave after watching over three days of town centre activity.

“I am staggered by the success of the event. I can’t really put it into words.

“You plan so much in advance and then it happens and people come flooding in. It’s hard to take in.

“A big thank you to all the volunteers. I keep saying it but it’s the truth – we couldn’t do it without them and they’re fantastic.”

This year saw new events such as Street Fest and Merlin Brewery’s beer festival make their FAB debuts, and, at 26 years old, the event always has room for improvement.

“We are realistic – I don’t think we can get much bigger but we are always trying to be better,” said Dave.

“We will sit down and see what worked and what didn’t.

“Street Fest brought people into the town to see what was going on, and I hope we brought a bit of the festival into the town centre.”
