MIDDLEWICH MP Fiona Bruce has pushed the Government to act on the spread of Bovine TB in Cheshire.

Speaking in the House of Commons last Thursday, Fiona quizzed Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Minister George Eustice about the Government's plans to eradicate the disease.

The slow-growing bacterial disease has taken hold in Britain's cattle and grown largely since the turn of the century, with Cheshire in particular seeing a large spike in cases.

In the Commons, Fiona said: "I urge the Government to do all they can to ensure that bovine TB is checked in Cheshire so that it does not take further hold."

She added: "It is the cause of extreme concern to farmers in my constituency."

Mr Eustice MP replied that the Government has introduced more frequent testing into the region, as well as more sensitive blood tests.
