RESIDENTS of all ages will soon be able to enjoy a revamped Fountain Fields Park thanks to an investment of more than £300,000 – but the project needs people to give their ideas about what they’d like to see there.

The children’s play park in Queen Street has been the focus for complaints about anti-social behaviour and run-down equipment for years but the plans, which are yet to be decided, will see facilities for children, families and teenagers.

The project is backed by several organisations, including Middlewich Town Council, Ansa, Cheshire East Council and members of Middlewich Parks and Play Areas Groups as well as neighbours, and they want to hear what people would like to see at the park during a public consultation.

Beverley Cope, from Middlewich Vision, said: “The consultation afternoon will be very laid back and give people the chance to wander round at their leisure. We want ideas from everybody about what they want to see and what they don’t want to see in the park and then we will be able to put together a plan that includes these ideas.

"We want to minimise the impact on residents and also minimise noise levels so we want to hear what everyone has to say. We want to make sure that the park is improved to the desired level and also that it’s improved to a level that Middlewich residents deserve.”

Gareth Williams, who takes his two sons to the park, said: “The long-term project will take two years to complete and feedback has already highlighted that residents and park users believe that the new site can benefit everyone.

"It’s important not to forget about the teenagers. The space is big enough for everyone and people of all ages should be taken into consideration when the final plans are put together.”

The public consultation will be held from 3pm-7pm tomorrow, Thursday, at The Wych Centre and representatives from all of the organisations will be present to discuss ideas.
