A MIDDLEWICH man has been arrested after a 72-year-old woman died in a car crash on Booth Lane.
The accident happened at around 2pm on Saturday, May 16 and the woman who was from Sandbach, died at the scene.
The woman was driving a green Honda Civic and two other vehicles, a white Toyota Hilux and a HGV were involved in the crash.
A 20-year-old man from Middlewich, who was driving the Toyota, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail pending further investigations.
The woman was trapped in the car and two fire engines from Crewe and Sandbach were called to the scene to cut the woman free.
There has now been five fatalities on Booth Lane in Middlewich in the last three years.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call PC Tony Hayhurst on 101 quoting incident number 472 of the 16/05/15.
