ANOTHER 270 homes could be built off Warmingham Lane to add to the 350 that are still being completed.

Gladman Developments has recently completed a 194-home development off Warmingham Lane, which was sold to Morris Homes, and has now started the pre-planning process for another 270 homes next to the site.

The developers have put in a planning application to screen opinion for the prospect of 270 homes off Warmingham lane, on land next to the Morris Homes site.

The application gives no further detail of the plans, with its purpose being to enquire whether a Environmental Impact Assessment would be needed before submitting the full application.

A spokesperson for Gladman said: “We are at very early stages and there really isn’t anything to comment on right now.”

With the Morris Homes site featuring 194 homes and Bellway Homes’ 149-home development both on Warmingham Lane, the prospect of making the total of new houses in the area to more than 600 is a big mistake according to Cheshire East Council’s Middlewich ward member Cllr Mike Parsons.

Cllr Parsons, said: “As far as I’m aware, this town will have satisfied its quota under the requirements for the local plan so we don’t need yet more houses.

“If they keep building down Warmingham Lane they’ll have built down to Crewe by the time they’ve finished.

“Another 270 homes, on top of the ones that have just been built there would have thousands of people living there and it would turn Warmingham Lane into the most populated area in Middlewich and that must mean we need a regular bus service at the least. Until we get a bus service I think the idea shouldn’t even be entertained.”
