A MIDDLEWICH High School gave high praise to one of their pupils after he successfully completed a Respect Course with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service in Winsford.

Year 10 pupil, Kenan Mulholland, was offered the opportunity to take part in the course throughout 2014 as a way to ‘enrich his extracurricular achievements’.

After taking part in the course with the fire service throughout the year, Kenan had his final assessment at the end of the year where he had to demonstrate a fire drill.

The drill included getting all the hoses from the fire engine and pumping water.

Donna Davenport, from Middlewich High School, was delighted to see Kenan complete his final assessment and pass the course after a year of hard work.

“It was great to see Kenan engaging with other students and working very well with Cheshire Fire and Rescue,” Donna said.

“Myself and Mrs Perks were very impressed with Kenan and we were happy to be invited to share in Kenan’s success.”

The course is based on Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's experience of working with young people during the past decade and the partnership involves Youth and Education Services from the three Cheshire Councils including Cheshire East Council.

The project is aimed at young people between the ages of 13 and 16 and aims to improve their self esteem and encourages them to grow in confidence.
