THE Salt Cellar in Middlewich kicked off Christmas in style by hosting a magical weekend to collect for the Middlewich Food bank.

Staff at the pub dressed up as Disney characters and created a winter wonderland with real reindeer and a Santa’s grotto.

The staff took donations of food from customers for the food bank and were blown away by the amount of food collected.

"We have been amazed at the response from the local community,” said Salt Cellar manager Cassie Duncalf.

“The weekend was a fundraiser for our nominated charity The Middlewich Foodbank and all our staff and customers have been so supportive and we now have two boxes of special Christmas food to send.

"We will continue to support the Foodbank through December so anyone wishing to bring donations can bring them into the pub or check out our Facebook page for all our special Christmas events."

The pub also put on a children’s disco hosted by staff member Lucy Such and children were surprised with a visit from The Grange panto’s Cinderella pony, who pulled his carriage into the car park.
