THE true story of a heroic military confrontation which saw one British man killed and several other seriously injured will hit cinemas on Friday – and with thanks to a former soldier from Middlewich.

Kajaki will be released in Vue cinemas from Friday, November 28, and tells the story of seven brave soldiers in Afghanistan who found themselves trapped and under from the Taliban.

Former soldier Luke Hardy, from Middlewich, was deployed on three tours of Afghanistan with the Parachute Regiment and was approached by the film company Pukka Films to help with the making of the film in Jordan.

Luke said: “It was honour to be asked to work on the film, it was like nothing I’ve ever done before.

“There was a lot of responsibility on me from revising the script to make sure it is how soldiers talk, to being on set during filming and even taking boot camps with the cast to get them in the right frame of mind.”

Luke was not involved in the fateful incident but met the injured in the Camp Bastion hospital.

He added: “That day I was on operations elsewhere in Afghanistan but I flew back into Camp Bastion that morning and met the guys as they were being taken into the hospital.”
