SCHOOLS in Middlewich are set to undergo changes to their Health Service as Cheshire East Council look to introduce new duties to school nurses from September 2015.
The school health nurse is a specially qualified nurse who provides all 5 to 19-year-olds with a service that helps prevent children and young people from getting ill and finding out early if they have an illness.
Cheshire East Council’s Public Health Team want to provide more nurses, provide the service all year round, be more accessible to children and their parents or carers, and be available to all those up to the age of 19.
Parents are now being asked to fill in a survey to have their say on what the new service should provide to their children.
The survey is part of an investigation into whether to make the nurses available not only in school but also after school, during the holidays and out in the community.
The team also wants to know what health topics are important and how the children and their parents would wish to communicate with the nurses in the future.
This survey will close on Friday, November 21, and can be filled in by visiting cheshireeast.gov.uk/schoolhealthsurvey.
