CAKE decorating fans have been learning the skills of icing and sugarpaste under the expert eye of Claire Bailey.

Eight women attended Claire’s first Be-Cake cake skills class in the craft room at Willowmere Extra Care Development, East Road, Middlewich.

Claire, from Paddock View, Middlewich, is a cake decorator by trade, and is technical sales manager for a bakery ingredients manufacturer in Liverpool.

“I have been cake decorating for 25 years, and thought it was about time to pass on my skills and knowledge and share my art,” said Claire.

“The women who came along to the three-hour masterclass at Willowmere has so much fun, and went away with a beautiful cake decorated with sugarpaste and icing flowers.

“They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and some have booked to take part in the next class.”

Modelling sugarpaste figures is the subject of the next class at Willowmere on Saturday, April 26, from 10am to midday.

There is a small charge for materials and equipment.

The women who attended the first class came from Middlewich, Winsford, Northwich and Warrington.

The classes are to be held every month, and for more details email claireb783@sky.com.
