A NEW monthly market is to be launched in Middlewich at the end of the month to replace the former Artisan Market.

Last Monday, traders of the Artisan Market were sent an email from organiser Denise Valente with a formal notification that the artisan partnership had been legally dissolved.

The Middlewich Makers Market has now been set up by Vicky Jackson and Middlewich Town Council to ensure that the market continues.

Vicky said: “The event is all about Middlewich, its artisans, its retailers, its community projects and its residents.

“I am incredibly thankful that we have found a solution to ensure the future of the event, and I am confident moving forward we can work together to create the best possible market for Middlewich.”

The event like the artisan, will celebrate the finest in local food, drink, art, design and craft producers.

In addition, the market will showcase community projects and groups, talented musicians and performances.

The makers market will offer local producers a reduced stall fee in a bid to ensure their prices are as keen and competitive as possible for visitors.

Vicky added: “It would be amazing if we can try and recruit new local Middlewich traders.

"The stall price has been reduced and this we hope makes showcasing at the event more feasible for a cross section of artisans.”

The stall fee has been reduced from £45 to £35 for infrastructure provided or £30 for holders who supply their own gazebo.

The launch will showcase the Cotton Town Hot Club, who will bring sounds from the 1930’s Harlem to the 1940’s as well as talent from Cheshire Folk.

Jonathan Williams, Middlewich Town Clerk, added: “We are looking forward to a series of markets through the spring and summer that will be jam packed with quality local food, arts and crafts, and the very best in music, dance and street entertainment.

“Thanks to Victoria for working hard to sustain and develop the market, and we hope to see more people than ever at the new look Middlewich Makers Market.”

The market will take place on the last Saturday of the month in Wheelock Street with the launch commencing on Saturday, March 29.
