THE Principal of Winsford’s academy has said the school would not tolerate any future change to children’s uniforms.

The news comes after sponsor chain, E-ACT, said Winsford was among ten of its 34 academies being placed back in Government control.

New sponsors are currently being sought for the school, raising the possibility of a future operator wanting a uniform change.

Principal, Andy Taylor-Edwards, said the school would resist any such move.

“The academy would not support or tolerate any charge that would be made to parents for a new uniform,” he said.

“It would be a gross injustice and I would be amazed if anyone would even consider it.

“We are making strong representations to the Department for Education and the issue is high on the list of priorities of the board of governors.”

At a meeting of Cheshire West and Chester Council last night, Tuesday March 3, councillors agreed to offer interim assistance to the school while a new sponsor was acquired.
