MIDDLEWICH’S MP has praised the ‘energy, determination and vision’ of an action group fighting to make a difference for hundreds of children.

Fiona Bruce met with Karl Jamieson, chairman of Residents’ Association for Middlewich Parks (RAMP), and other group members at Moss Drive play park on Saturday.

The group is supporting the Guardian’s Fair Play campaign to fight for better, safer play areas for the town’s youngsters.

RAMP recently conducted an audit of 10 Middlewich parks which revealed that only two were deemed fit for purpose.

Recurring problems are graffiti, dog fouling, litter and lack of maintenance and equipment.

Fiona said: “Having now seen the condition of more than one of the children’s play areas at Middlewich’s parks, it is very clear to me that the work of RAMP is needed.

“I am confident that this group, with its energy, determination, and local vision, will make a real difference for the hundreds of children and their families who will enjoy these parks in future years.

“No one should underestimate what a difference a group of like-minded residents can make – especially in Middlewich.”

Karl added: "Our meeting with Fiona went better that expected and I am pleased to say that she fully backs our aims to provide better playspaces for our children.

“This show of support from Fiona alongside the support we already have from the other parties that represent Middlewich at all levels of government shows that they are all willing to put ideological differences aside and work together with us for something that will benefit the whole community for years to come.

“I am really looking forwards to working with Fiona to make our vision a reality."
