AS a life-long supporter of brass band music it was a privilege to be part of the capacity audience at the Northwich Memorial Court on Sunday evening.
A combined concert by the Roberts Bakery Band, the NW Area Championship Fodens Band and the Lyons Youth Brass band was held to raise funds for the latter to represent England at the European Championship in Montreux 2019.
A well chosen programme showed the versatility of the three bands to perfection.
The talent and discipline of the young band left me with the conviction that, contrary to my worst fears, the future of the ageold tradition of brass banding in mid Cheshire, and hopefully beyond, is in very safe hands.
