The maintenance of the churchyard at St John’s in Hartford has, for several years, been at an appalling standard.

Last week, yet again, a visit to my grandparents’ grave was made even more upsetting when the grave stones throughout the churchyard had been left covered in cut grass, with the graves themselves being completely covered by grass that hadn’t been picked up.

This is the fourth time I’ve complained to the utter shambles that is Cheshire West and Chester Council, which responded to my phone call and email with ‘just go online and put it on a map for the street clean team’.

I’ve done this before and nothing permanent is done about it as the maintenance standards return to an atrocious standard.

Previous visits have made the inscriptions on the stones completely unreadable due to grass and mud covering them.

I’ve written to my MP Mike Amesbury to see if anything can be done about this, but I feel like CWAC has shown a complete disregard and lack of respect for those interred at St John’s and their families.
