PAUL Carden praised the rapid start his Warrington Town side made to tonight’s FA Cup replay win over Consett AFC.

Yellows were 2-0 up within 12 minutes at Cantilever Park, and it was enough to see off their opponents from the Northern League First Division.

Carden says he had stressed before the game that there was to be no repeat of Yellows’ poor start to Saturday’s original tie, which saw them fall two goals behind quickly.

“I thought we started the game with a real intent about us in the first 15 minutes,” he said.

“We wanted to put a few wrongs from Saturday right and put them under the same pressure as they did to us.

“The way we attacked the game was first class and in effect, we’ve won the game from that start.

“The idea was to play how we play and not be dictated to.

“They are a good team who are full of confidence and play a good style of football.

“You have to look at how effective it was, though, and I think Tony has only had one save to make.

“I thought every time we went forward, we looked like we were going to do something.”

AFC Telford United of the National League North will now visit Cantilever Park in the third qualifying round on October 6 and Carden believes it is a tie to look forward to, but not just yet.

“When the draw was made, I think both clubs would have been pleased with the draw,” he said.

“Telford will have looked at it and will be thinking it is a bit of a banana skin.

“We’ve got the league to concentrate on first, which is massive for us.”

Sadly, however, it was not all good news for Yellows as they picked up more injuries.

Adam Hughes and Tony Gray both had to be substituted, while Yellows were already without the likes of Luke George and Shaun Beeley.
