KINGSLEY won a sixth successive Cheshire League match last weekend and could climb into the table’s top three if they extend the sequence on Saturday.

To do that they must beat Port Sunlight, their conquerors on two previous occasions already this season.

However Toby Mullins’ men start that contest buoyed by a successful chase at Haslington, where they prevailed by four wickets.

A collective effort to them to 173-6 with Haris Yassin (37), Kieron Ollier (36) and the captain (32no) leading the way for the Crofters.

They had dismissed their hosts for 172 after winning the toss, with Hayden Lanza (4-32) and in-form Ben Stoddart (4-49) doing most of the heavy-lifting.

Adrian Burden took 2-43.

Barnton, depleted by absences, lost by eight wickets at home to champions-elect Stockport Georgians.

They posted 171-7, with Sam Connop (46) and Pat Flanagan (41) falling narrowly short of a half-century.

The visitors didn’t hang around after tea, when Nick Johnson (62no) and Adam Keene (74no) shared in an unbroken stand worth 123 runs to take them to their target.

Oakmere’s bowlers rescued the Division Two leaders after they had folded for 112 at Maritime.

James Norton (40) was the only batsman to emerge with credit on a difficult afternoon.

However Matt Howard (5-41), backed up by Matt Norton (2-32) and captain Craig Phelan (2-3), ripped through the hosts’ top-order.

They were dismissed for 89, and lost by 23 runs.

Middlewich celebrated a precious victory in their fight for survival when they eased aside Poynton.

Phil Parry (3-23), Kieran Boyle (3-33) and Matt Ryan (3-6) combined to knock over their struggling opponents for just 76.

Matt Allen (27) set the visitors on a course for victory and they made it to their target in the 23rd over with Ryan and Richard Clorley at the crease.

A gap to the bottom two is still only 18 points but the men from Haddon Field have shown their resilience in the past fortnight.

Winnington Park’s campaign is drifting to a disappointing conclusion, and they proved no match for promotion-hopefuls Stockport Trinity at Highfield Road.

The visitors were bowled out for 74 with only three batsmen making it into double-figures as Zohaib Khan (6-27) impressed for the home team.

Stockport then cruised to a nine-wicket victory inside 20 overs, inflicting on Alec Butcher’s men a fourth successive league defeat.

Winsford tumbled to a heavy 149-run reverse at Trafford MV in a Division Four fixture.

The home team amassed 245-8, although Logan Simpson (2-29) denied Raja Asghar (96) a century.

James Tierney weighed in with 3-64.

The men from Knights Grange, beaten now in five of their past six matches, folded for 96 in reply with returning Mike Dean (28) the only batsman to threaten.
