WITH the Olympics almost upon us, I thought I would like to share my memories of the 1948 Olympics with Guardian readers.
In 1948 I was 11 years old and still at Davenham School.
Every Friday all the children from around the Northwich area were taken by bus to the Plaza, which in those days was a cinema, to watch the Olympics on the screen.
When it was over we were taken by bus back to Davenham. On the Monday morning at school we had to write about what we had seen the previous Friday.
