LAST week I collected my granddaughter from junior school (bless those grandparents) but was pulled to one side by the teacher who advised me that my granddaughter had been hit on the head with a stick by one of the young boys.
She told me the matter was being taken very seriously and the boy had been spoken to, and the rest of the class had been gently warned about boisterous play and its dangers and the playtime supervisors had been asked to keep an eye out for such behaviour.
There were a few tears but no damage done and my granddaughter was fine.
I told the teacher that I would tell her mother things were in hand and all was now fine.
I thanked the teacher for her concern and actions and told her that when I was in junior school it was the teachers that were hitting the pupils on the head with sticks.
