WE decided a few weeks ago to bring our boat along to Northwich for a visit and we were surprised at the lack of moorings for visiting boats.

On one side of the river, opposite the marina, there were perhaps seven boats moored and these filled the available spaces.

After that, there is virtually nowhere to moor up.

There are no welcoming signs and all along Barons Quay there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to stop.

For a town that is based on a river, with new shops etc all built along the riverside, the powers that be seem to have forgotten that boaters also have money to spend.

It seems to me that, as usual, the council is missing out on a potential source of revenue.
