THE recent letters by supporters of the Liberal Party desire for proportional representation smack of utter hypocrisy.

As far as I can judge, the EU Referendum was effectively proportional representation with two candidates called ‘in’ and ‘out’.

The ‘out’ candidate cleared the ‘bar’, so beloved by Ewen Simpson, by more than one million votes. To my mind that is a more than adequate clearance by any stretch of the imagination. Yet these advocates of proportional representation are the foremost group to refuse to accept the democratic result of that EU Referendum.

And in their frantic desperation even have the sheer effrontery to claim that out voters didn’t know what they were voting for.

Indeed, Ewen Simpson is still peddling this nonsense with his statement that ‘the EU Referendum exposed the ignorance of many voters’.

Well I have news for Ewen Simpson, in that we all knew what we were voting for.

The details were spelled out very clearly by those political leaders of the day who were trying to frighten us into staying in.

The subsequent arrogant attitude and bullyboy tactics of the EU negotiators has further strengthened that view that out is the right decision for the UK.
