WE would like to sincerely thank all the wonderful people who made Winsford’s first Memorial Mile a very special time to reflect on those we have lost.

Thank you to the many who walked in some very inclement weather and to the members of the clergy and The Salvation Army who took part in the service in the town centre.

We also thank Ian Lewsey for his moving poem, Sam Lyon for her lovely rendition of Songbird, Bob Wilson for playing the bagpipes, Michelle Darlington and her welldressed pony Bella.

Thanks to the ladies on the cake stall along with all those who donated the delicious cakes including Tesco and Morrisons, helping to raise £300.

We thank all the marshals for keeping the walkers safe and to the police for sending the very helpful PCSO.

The day was beautifully rounded off at the Golden Lion with a hot pot lunch thanks to the generosity of landlord Ernie Welch.

It was a fantastic show of community spirit in which we were all very proud to take part and the generosity of the people of Winsford has raised £1,000 for the St Luke’s Phoenix Group Charity who do such great work with bereaved children who have lost their parents.
