FOLLOWING the recent letter praising this new leisure centre building, while opinions on the outside are divided, my disappointment is on the inside.

Brio Leisure seems to have no interest in anyone over the age of 25 attending. There is no designated time for over-50s/seniors’ swimming. On entering the gym the noise from the choice of music was deafening. The walkway in the foyer floor celebrating acts that appeared at the old Memorial Hall is a nonsense, which everyone ignores.

Why on earth with all that wall space did they not pay homage to the fact that the Beatles, the most famous iconic musical act in history appeared in Northwich six times (1962-63) and display it prominently? Other towns would have capitalised on this link.

The memorial stone and other items from the old Memorial Hall which Cheshire West Council promised would be incorporated in the structure of the new building are about to be put into a garden.

On the original artist impression, there was no sign of the wooden shed which appears to be a storage area for dustbins and refuse and could have been located somewhere more discreetly.

Perhaps Brio Leisure may consider the fact that the more mature residents of Northwich may have liked to use the centre for designated swimming and keep fit sessions.

And finally, why was there no official opening ceremony? It seems like a bit of an anti-climax to the whole project.
