IN response to the Guardian comments following the CWAC local elections, I would agree with much which was said.

However, although I agree the name of the council should always have been Cheshire West, the costs of rebranding everything would be prohibitive and a bit frivolous considering residents are still living in an age of austerity and the certainty that the council will receive further reductions in its settlement from government.

Changing a name and rebranding would not be a priority at present. There are far more urgent issues for our residents currently.

As for the comments of Winsford councillors fighting for Winsford and bringing in investment, you bet your life we will.

The comments about the split up of Cheshire County Council are contentious. If some saw some of the waste that went on under the county council perhaps they would not agree and, don’t forget, it was the old system that split the town of Winsford in two with the dual carriageway and sold our shopping centre into private hands.
