IN response to Cllr Dolan's article, 'Questions asked about potholed road'.

We are surprised the two Labour councillors are surprised about the problems in Solvay Road, Hemming Street and Dyer Terrace.

We have been working with residents in this area for 12 months on a problem that has been around for many years.

It is concerning to us as the current situation means the owner of the roads can do repairs and charge the residents, without any long-term solution.

This means the residents have an ongoing uncapped liability.

We have been asking questions about this and our thanks go to the CWAC officer Richard Flood who has identified who owns the roads.

They have estimated what the costs are and informed the residents (and the two ward members prior to the letter being sent) yet again no action by the two Labour councillors.

It is clear from the questions they raised in the newspaper article that they have failed to understand the issues and the work their council officers have done and to recognise the concerns of residents about the uncapped liabilities.

If we are successfully elected, we are committed to support the residents to resolve this problem and will seek to do likewise for the other 10 unadopted roads in the area.
