IT WOULD appear that Cllr David Topping is now saying the council has no funds to complete the eastern bypass.

I thought they said that funds were secured?

Whilst I appreciate that the ultimate project will cost millions, how much longer do the council expect Middlewich residents and passing drivers through the town to suffer pinch point condition on Lewin Street?

Have the council applied for funding from the pinch point scheme?

My father and I suggested years ago to Congleton Borough Council that they could utilise what was already in situ by making a new deck bridge over the canal.

A deck bridge was installed years ago at Turnover Bridge at Tetton at the point known locally as Cash's Bridge.

Brooks Lane is adequately wide to take modern traffic.

Also, even if completed, the eastern bypass will not ease traffic on the A54 towards the motorway and Chester.

Speaking of easing traffic on the A54 the council could have taken back the curb they built out at the Town Bridge on the approach from Boar's Head, Kinderton Street, creating a turn for Sandbach into Leadsmithy Street.

I was advised by the highways this is out as it would cost £100,000 to move the services. Small beer in the plans for Middlewich announced recently or over the ‘rainbow’?
