TERRY Murphy looked down from the Cheshire League summit on Saturday and declared – it’s good to be back on top.

Middlewich took over the Division One lead following their single goal success over newboys Billinge, Louis Bentley grabbing the winner.

“It’s been a while, now we need to stay there,” said the Witches boss.

“Getting our league title back is the number one priority and it’s important we keep this little run of form going.”

That sequence had stretched to six wins in eight matches before last night’s Mid Cheshire FA Senior Cup clash with holders Winsford.

Murphy turns his attention to his other ambition at the weekend when Town host Grappenhall Sports in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup second round, kick off 2pm.

“I’ve always said it, I want Middlewich to be crowned best in the county,” he said.

“Last year we had a real good crack before going out to Poulton Victoria and they went on to win the whole thing so we know what the benchmark is.”
