Grappenhall Sports 1 Middlewich Town 7

RAMPANT Town stunned Grappenhall when they put seven past their hosts in Cheshire League One on Saturday.

Doubles for Callum Priestley, James Dean and Michael Evans added to a Joe O’Sullivan effort as the in-form Witches ran wild at their Warrington counterparts.

Sports fluffed the first chance of the game, but it was the visitors who took an eighth-minute lead when O’Sullivan and Evans combined for the former to score.

That lead was doubled when Dean latched on to a long pass from defender Leon Robinson and finished smartly.

And Middlewich scored again before the break, this time when newcomer Priestley rolled his marker on the edge of the box before firing an effort into the corner.

And it was 4-0 by half time, O’Sullivan sending a clever reverse ball over the top of the defence for Evans who smashed a left-footed half-volley past goalkeeper Adam Clancy.

Town carried on, scoring again after the hour mark when substitute Jamie Garner sent in Priestley who skipped around Clancy before rolling in.

A sixth arrived when Dean picked a defender’s pocket and, although Cody Black converted a penalty as consolation for Grappers, the visitors had the final say when Kyle Wilding teed up Evans.
