Count us in race for Cheshire League title, says Middlewich manager Dave Parr

MIDDLEWICH manager Dave Parr will tell his team to believe they can challenge for the Cheshire League title next year.
The Witches sat sixth in Division One at Christmas, six points adrift of leaders Knutsford, but they still have half of their fixtures still to play.
“There’s no reason why we can’t be a contender,” he said.
“This group of players is a talented one, and they can achieve success if they really want to.”
Town will need to be more consistent to keep pace with their rivals though, according to Parr.
They have inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on Knutsford, as well as beating Greenalls, to prove they are capable of beating the best of the rest.
“There have been one or two exceptional performances along the way,” added Parr.
“That shows our potential, but we need to reproduce those on a more regular basis.
“I’ve worked in football long enough to know that making predictions is pointless, but if the players can play with the same attitude and determination that they showed in those games, then we have a chance.”
Middlewich are on course to successfully defend their JB Parker Challenge Cup crown after reaching the semi finals, while a last four date with neighbours Witton Albion awaits in the Mid-Cheshire FA Senior Cup.
And that with a team that contains members playing together for the first time.
Parr added: “We have introduced several young players as a reward for their displays in pre-season.
“They have been nothing short of outstanding, performing to a very high standard when called upon.
“It’s good for the club though when players from the reserves or youth teams can see that there is a route into the senior side.
“I know it’s a cliché, but at Middlwich we do believe that if lads are good enough, then they’ve old enough to feature.”
