WITTON Albion continued an encouraging start to the season when they put four goals without reply past Stafford on Saturday.

Carl Macauley’s men rise to third in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table as a reward for a 4-0 win that included a double for Steven Tames.

Will Jones and Rob Hopley scored too.

1874 Northwich came through a chaotic FA Vase encounter with Vauxhall Motors, eventually progressing to the second qualifying round after extra time thanks to Jack Pritchard’s header.

Their reward is a home date with Congleton Town later this month.

Barnton will have to try again on Tuesday night after their scheduled encounter with Penistone Church was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Townfield Lane.

Middlewich Town celebrated a notable victory in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup first round when they eliminated 2015 winners West Kirby.

Captain Sam O’Sullivan and Mitch Weedall were both on target in a 2-1 win.

Lostock Gralam were eliminated following a 4-1 defeat at Cheshire League rivals AFC Macclesfield, while Rudheath Social will head to Capenhurst Villa next weekend after their tie was called off.
