MIDDLEWICH Town continue to make progress, extending to six matches an unbeaten run in Cheshire League One by winning at Cheadle Town’s reserves last weekend.

A home date with Billinge this afternoon provides the sternest test of their improvement.

Kick off is at 2pm.

The visitors to Seddon Street sit third in the table, and completed a double over pace-setting Warrington reserves following a 3-2 victory in their latest outing.

“I felt we showed what we were made of [against Cheadle],” said co-manager Ross Speight.

“We stepped up a gear, and made sure we took maximum points.

“It was a solid performance, one that make up for a disappointing draw [with Grappenhall] the previous weekend.”

Jamie Petrie scored a decisive goal with six minutes left to secure for the Witches a merited 2-1 victory last Saturday.

It is his first strike since returning to the club before Christmas.

Town had led at the interval thanks to Callum Priestley, who had earlier struck an upright, when he met Sam O’Sullivan’s free kick with a powerful header.

Goalkeeper Charles Masters saved smartly from close range early in the second period to keep out the hosts, who levelled midway through the half through Luke Pearson.
