CHESHIRE Stars S took another step towards promotion when they edged out Barclays in the South Cheshire Premier League’s second tier on Monday.
The Middlewich-based outfit continues to lead the way in the Championship Division following a narrow 26-21 success during which captain Joanne Barnett was picked as player of the match.
They have now won 13 of their 15 matches this season.
Stars Pink, who play in Division One, were involved in a similarly close encounter with Harlequins in their latest match.
Centre Elle Jones was their star turn during a 34-31 victory that consolidates her side’s position in the middle of the table.
Stars R, who did not have a game last week, return to action hoping to protect top spot in Division Two.
Their lead over second-placed Wildcats is worth four points ahead of the next round.
Stars T, who have risen to seventh in the Premier Division following a slow start, play again this week too.
