Pilkington 2-1 Middlewich Town

MIDDLEWICH Town welcomed back Callum Priestley following a lengthy injury absence last Saturday, but he could not help them avoid another defeat at Pilkington.

The wide man played the final quarter of an hour after coming on as a second-half substitute.

“He showed us what we’ve been missing,” said Ross Speight, the Witches’ co-manager, afterwards.

Luke Sephton put the hosts in front early on, only for Town to draw level from the last touch of the first half when Sam O’Sullivan’s free kick crept in.

Chris Tingay scored the winner for Pilks on 75 minutes.

Speight added: “It was another frustrating afternoon for us; we did everything right apart from put the ball into the back of the net.

“We’re just lacking a killer instinct in front of goal.”

They host table-topping Warrington Town reserves tomorrow, Saturday, kick off 2pm.

Meanwhile Middlewich reserves, beaten 3-0 by their Mersey Valley counterparts last weekend, head to Pilkington.
