Middlewich Town 6

MIDDLEWICH Town ended a three-match losing sequence in style on Saturday, when they hit hosts Daten for six.

The Witches scored five of those before the break before Michael Evans added another a minute afterwards.

He had made it 4-0 after 26 minutes following earlier goals from Callum Priestley, James Dean and Ed Marsh - the latter doubling his personal tally ahead of the interval.

A swift start led to a breakthrough inside five minutes when Evans teed up Priestly to score from close range.

The duo combined again to provide Marsh with a chance to slide in a second goal at the far post.

Defender Dean Burgess sent Sam O’Sullivan clear, but Town's skipper was denied by goalkeeper Richard Lockhart.

Middlewich showed no mercy though, and Steve Rowlands' pass preceded Dean chipping the visitors' custodian.

Evans then scored at the second attempt, then assisted Marsh for a fifth goal.

The former's volley made it 6-0, before Leon Goulden's consolation for a shell-shocked home team.

Middlewich hope to repeat the trick when they visit Warrington Town reserves in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup on Saturday.

Meanwhile their reserves were 4-2 victors against their Golborne counterparts, with Chris Holbrooks, Mark O'Sullivan, Matty Cann and sub Tom Ward claiming the goals.

Miles Watson was sent off for the Witches' second string, who take on unbeaten Knutsford A in the Cheshire League's Reserve Division Challenge Cup this weekend.
