Middlewich Town 4 Tarporley Victoria 2

MIDDLEWICH Town moved towards mid-table in Cheshire League One following a win over Tarporley on Saturday.

Elliot Goryl, James Smith, Mathew Jamieson and Stuart Tulloch all netted for the hosts, while Alex Moore replied twice for Tarporley.

The Witches fell behind inside two minutes at Seddon Street when Moores headed in a long throw.

But John O’Sullivan’s men found a reply when Michael Evans sprayed a pass across to Goryl, who chested the ball into the path of Smith.

He returned the favour, and Goryl hammered into the top corner from 25 yards.

Middlewich dominated possession, and they took a deserved lead into the break when Jamieson added their second.

Evans was again involved in the build-up, slipping a well-weighted pass inside the visitors’ full back for Jamieson to sweep home into the far corner.

Tarporley’s long throw remained a threat to Middlewich, but it was the hosts who extended their lead midway through the second half.

Smith collected in midfield before passing on to Tulloch, but continued his run to head home from Tulloch’s cross.

Town added a fourth goal shortly afterwards when fine approach play from Jamieson ended with a delivery into the box for Tulloch to head past the goalkeeper.

Tarporley managed a consolation in the final minute, when a long ball into the box reached Moore to head his second.

Middlewich travel to Cuddington this weekend in the semi finals of the Mid-Cheshire District FA Challenge Cup, kick off 2pm.
