WE left Knutsford with 46 ramblers for the short trip to Bollington near Macclesfield from where all the walks started.

Also all the walks began by ascending White Nancy and following the ridge to Kerridge. Ken Mckenzie then took his D group back through the lower fields to complete five miles.

Chris Davies took her group back close to Bollington and then past Swanscote Hall to the canal.

They returned to Bollington after nine miles with 1,200ft of ascent. Steve Thomas took the B group on to Tegg’s Nose and then down to Macclesfield before returning using canal, filed paths and the Middlewood Way to complete 11 miles with 1,800ft of climbing.

Steve and Gill Sanderson took the A group over Sponds Hill to Lyme Park and then back over Bakestonedale Moor, a walk of 13 miles with around 2,700ft of ascent.

Back in Bollington, one pub was offering free mince pies and shortbread so there were some envious faces on the return journey.

The next trip to Llandudno is already fully booked but we’ll be going to Rivington in Lancashire on Sunday, December 20.
