A FORMER serviceman from Middlewich has been appointed as the county chairman of the Cheshire’s Royal British Legion.
Don Taylor, who was a member of the Royal Air Force and saw active service in Cyprus during the EOKA campaign, will be the chairman for three years.
The 76-year-old who has lived in Middlewich for 30 years, said: “It’s an honour to get the job.
“I am exceptionally pleased to have been selected, I was vice-chairman for five years and it will be a pleasure to be chairman for the Cheshire county.
“The Middlewich British Legion is very well attended. Last year we had 800 members and people I’ve spoken to are really pleased for me.
“They know they’ll have my ear.”
Don is chairman of Cheshire’s 64 branches of the Royal British Legion.
Fiona Bruce MP added: “Knowing Don as I do and his commitment to the work of the Royal British Legion in Middlewich, I am confident he will be an excellent ambassador for the work of the Legion across Cheshire.”
