Have your say on huge plans to build 194 homes in Pettywood Farm, Warmingham Lane, Middlewich

MASSIVE plans to build 194 homes in Warmingham Lane will be on display at Middlewich Civic Hall on Friday.

Residents can have their say on plans to build a huge estate on an 18 acre site at Pettywood Farm between 4pm and 7pm on Friday and 10am and 1pm on Saturday.

Martyn Twigg, planning manager for Gladman Developments in Congleton, said: “The purpose of the exhibition is to allow people to comment on the scheme and hopefully make suggestions about other community facilities that could be included in the scheme or projects elsewhere in the town that the development could contribute towards supporting.”

If approved, the scheme is expected to include 30 per cent affordable housing.

TOTALLY THOUGHTLESS or something REALLY BIG to hide?

I am a nearby resident. I am away from home until Sunday night and therefore, due to total lack of notice, and only 48 hours of availability, I will not be able to view plans and provide feedback.

I shall write to Cheshire East to ensure that they are very aware of the lack of notice to residents and the very suspicious 48 hour viewing period offered.

The developer should expect a huge volume of objections, as clearly they are only willing to pay lip-service to local residents views in order to 'tick a box' to say they have consulted with us.

Other than this website where have I been served notice of this please?

I have just returned from the display at the Civic Centre showing the plans for the almost 200 homes on Warmingham Lane. Whilst still in rough form it was plain to see what a mammoth development this is. Of course the staff on hand were not objective and had only limited information due to the plan being in its early stages.
However what did come to light was the fact that the field next to the proposed development and opposite Sycamore Drive is owned by Bellway Homes and is also earmarked for housing.
I do feel that this process has been slightly spurious as there was hardly any notice given for the exhibition and limited publicity for the event.
Middlewich cannot sustain more developments, the infrastructure surely cannot cope, doctors are at maximum capacity now and what about schools and the road network together with the other developments which have already been approved.

Agree. We must not let this happen unless we are confident that the infrastructure can cope. By way of an example 200 more houses could lead to an extra week's wait to see your GP, or traffic queues back to Tesco's to get out on to Booth Lane in the morning.

An extra weeks wait for a GP? You are lucky to get an appointment within a week at the Oaklands Surgery these days.

The position of the proposed estate is absurd as the area just isn't set up for more houses, there aren't sufficient jobs in the area and hence people will be commuting in and out of the area causing more traffic.

Have the plans for the 600+ houses on the Albion Chemical works site been approved? If so, Middlewich and Sandbach will become gridlocked. It's bad enough when there's a crash in the M6 and cars use the A533.

We need cast-iron guarantees that infrastucture wil lbe in-place before any houses are built. No more empty or half promies of a railway station, swimming pool, more GP's etc etc etc.

Get it right or get out!

Let us not forget that 200 houses potentially = 600-800 people and 200-600 cars.
