How has major road closure in Middlewich affected you?

BOOTH Lane shut between Cross Lane and Long Lane South on Monday as part of £10million flood relief scheme.

The five-month closure will see traffic diverted through Cross Lane and Warmingham Lane.

This has already caused long queues of HGVs in Cross Lane.

If the United Utilities project has affected you, the Guardian would love to hear about it.

It has been mad around there since they started but last night i went to Sandbach at 5.30pm and there was not a line of cars in sight all due to the traffic light being out of action, made life so much easyer and everybody new where they where going, also on the way back there was no quing at the top of cross lane as the cars where coming in drips and drabs instead of 30 at a time from being held up at the light's.

Absolute chaos again tonight and its only the third day.
Typical bad idea of putting a set of traffic lights at Cross Lane to slow everything down.Traffic backing up all along Warmingham Lane and back down Booth Lane towards Middlewich.
Not helped by the appalling surface of Warmingham lane which is breaking up almost by the hour!
The previous state of this road was reported to the council weeks ago - of course nothing done bar a shovelful of tar in the deepest holes!

I live on Cross Lane and it has become an absolute nightmare. I'm actually thinking of setting up a sandwich stall to supply the drivers queueing with drinks and food!
Warmingham Lane is pot hole city - watch out Cheshire East Council, claims to follow. Not long before Cross Lane follows suit with the number of over weight vehicles attempting to get down it. The traffic lights are causing the queues, funny how everything moved smoothly when they were out of action - a bl***y joke! Will we get rebates in our council tax for the inconvenience?!

United Utilities to Mr Jobsworth at Cheshire East 'council': "we're doing you a big favour by replacing a pipe (paid by courtesy of your residents who are forced to pay our exorbitant bills) and demand that you let us shut down a main thoroughfare, control the traffic in our own bone-headed way and above all make residents lives a nightmare. For how long? Well replacing a length of pipe...call it six months....if we feel like it"

Mr Jobsworth: "certainly...no problems sir...after all, when it comes to council tax payers....who cares?"

United Utilities, Balfour Beatty acting on behalf of them and Cheshire East Council - Apparently, pass the buck is the new game!
Been promised all sorts - 24/7 working being one of them. Somehow I don't think so.
Work still not started on Booth Lane so is all this chaos for nothing?
More to the point, next plan - shut Cross Lane for 6 months followed by Warmingham Lane for another 4 months - better be a **** good sewer when they've finished with a cherry on top!!
We need compensation!!!

Traffic on Warmingham lane is making life impossible,we cannot get out of the driveway, and the other night I had to park on the Turnpike to get to the house, but still had to battle my way across the road. I thought there was a weight limit on the road, and have seen several wagons larger than 7.5t on Warmingham Lane. They better police this better to avoid any serious incidents as it is only a matter of time before something happens.

7.5 tonnes weight limit - yeah right!
Seen several overweight vehicles including tankers and Eddie Stobarts lorry going down Cross Lane and Warmingham Lane. Either they can't read road signs or they can't be bothered - somehow I think the latter.
Won't be long before a major accident occurs and will the emergency vehicles be able to get down either road. Already seen 2 ambulances this morning having to turn round as they can't get down Booth Lane - absolute mayhem!
All those involved have not thought what chaos this road closure is causing.
United Utilities - you need to get your act together and do 7 day working to get it finished quickly

7 day working - the roads been closed a week - progress so far.....
lets park a digger on Booth Lane with a fence round it!!
Of course if the forecasted snow comes back next week it won't matter cause work wouldhave been delayed anyway.

ah spotted the digger and thought they'd started work - silly me, of course not! Why should they get their arses into gear!
If the snow comes back as bad as it was in january - will they re-open the road to let the salt lorries in? No of course not, they'll just get rid of the 7.5 tonnes weight limit and allow them to block peoples homes whilst they queue to get in to British Salt - what a farce!

Thought I might see what progress Balfour Beatty are making with the sewer replacement but their office on Warmingham Lane is only open wednesdays 10am til 1pm - funny that, when most people are at work!!
So you can't go and complain - customer service at its best - NOT!
Think there is a need to make a claim to United Utilities, Balfour Beatty and Cheshire East Council

Just thought I'd point out to car owners who live on Warmingham Lane, Cross Lane and Booth Lane - if you are unable to gain access to your property/driveway where you normally park your car and are having to park on the road, this could affect your motor insurance premium.
Good luck with getting compensation from United Utilities!

How many 7.5t+ lorries have been stopped driving down Warmingham Lane? - and by whom - seen police there parked-up but no action seemed to be taken. The condition of the road is already a drivers nightmare please don't make it any worse than it already is. Clear signage is what we need and somebody to police the policy efficiently. Come on you know it makes sense! - who knows - some idiot might even propose an incinerator is built in Middlewich one-day!!
