SPECIALIST ales from Cheshire and afar will be available in Middlewich when hundreds are expected to descend on the town in search of the perfect pint.

Preparations are underway for the Middlewich Beer Festival on October 23 and 24 which will feature more than 40 ales and ciders.

The event, which is expected to attract around 750 people, is being organised by Middlewich and District Round Table and hosted by Middlewich Royal British Legion in Lewin Street.

Stuart Eustace, chairman of Middlewich and District Round Table, said: “The beer festival is a brilliant way to raise money for local causes, as everybody has a fantastic night out at the same time.

“This is truly a community event, with local businesses sponsoring the beer, local bands providing the entertainment and local people manning the bars.”

Music will be provided by Middlewich Big Band and The Otherside on Friday night and Beaver on Saturday night.

All profits will be split between local causes through the Round Table and the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

The beer festival is also coinciding with Middlewich’s first boat rally.

Countless narrowboats are expected to descend on the canals between October 23 and 25 with a host of entertainment being planned for Middlewich venues.

Tickets for the beer festival include a commemorative glass and are available from the Royal British Legion Club, Lewin Street, or Chisholm’s Newsagents, Wheelock Street.

Sponsorship opportunities are also still available for businesses. Contact John Humphreys on 07779334523 or beer-festival@middlewichroundtable.org.uk for details.
