Middlewich's vintage tractors to return from charity challenge

TWENTY-TWO vintage tractors are returning from a journey through the British countryside, today, Sunday.

The enthusiastic drivers set off from Middlewich to Whitby, last Sunday.

Dave Harrison, chairman of Middlewich Vintage Tractors Club, organised the trip.

He said that despite common problems like tractors being stuck in peat bogs, clutch failures and blown gaskets, the drivers love every minute of it.

Dave added: “It’s Yorkshire so it’s almost unparalled scenery and it’s a chance to rekindle friendships, wind down and relax and soak up the atmosphere while forgetting the cares of the world.”

The journey saw Dave and his companions travelling 550 miles at a speed of around 13mph.

But they did not frustrate car drivers as they mostly travelled off road.

This is the 13th year of vintage annual tractor run, which has raised £40,000 for several charities.

This year, they hope to raise £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
