A GRIEVING mum has marked the two-year anniversary of her son’s death as she continues with her mission to raise awareness of the disease that killed him.

Linda Boden, of Dean Street, held a private remembrance service with family and friends at Middlewich Cemetery on Saturday in honour of her son Andrew Cliffe who died in his sleep two years ago of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

Linda said: “It’s probably harder this year because the first year we were still in such disbelief, but this time it’s so hard because you are living through your last day with them again.”

Since 26-year-old Andrew’s untimely death she has campaigned tirelessly to raise funds to purchase life-saving defibrillators for Middlewich at a cost of £1,500 each.

Thanks to Linda’s efforts Middlewich now has four defibrillators and she is more than halfway towards raising enough money to buy a fifth.

She says she will continue with her work even after every school in Middlewich has the life-saving piece of equipment.

“We have achieved so much,” she said.

“But I won’t be stopping even when every place has a defibrillator I will still continue to support SADS.”

Linda, who works at Tesco Express, has organised her latest fundraiser at the White Horse pub, in Lewin Street, this Friday, December 5.

Revellers are invited to the optional fancy dress party from 8pm and all proceeds will be donated to SADS.

Linda is also collecting old mobile phones to recycle and raise funds for families affected by the loss of a loved one through SADS.

You can drop your old phones off at Tesco Express in Wheelock Street.
