THE new Cheshire East Council is pledging to tackle climate change.
The council’s leader Wesley Fitzgerald and chief executive Erika Wenzel have signed the Nottingham Declaration – a voluntary pledge to address the issues of climate change in the area.
The scheme launched in 2000 commits local authorities to work towards reducing its carbon footprint and Cheshire East will now strive to achieve this when it takes over all local government services on April 1 next year.
