AN inspirational MBE recipient has been appointed as Commandant at Merseyside Army Cadet Force.
Colonel Stephen Boardman MBE DL from St Helens, who was awarded an MBE in 2009 for his outstanding efforts in Southern Afghanistan and is a Deputy Lieutenant in West Yorkshire, took over the top job September 1.
The former Cowley pupil has wasted no time adjusting to his new role, having already been out and about across the county meeting cadets and visiting detachments, he even ran alongside cadets who were trying out for the Cross-County Team earlier this month encouraging them on.
Colonel Boardman said: “As a native of Merseyside, taking up the role of Commandant Merseyside ACF is both a huge honour and my dream job.
"In my opinion, we are already an outstanding Army Cadet Force and our task now is to push on and grasp the tremendous opportunity we have before us.”
The new Commandant has been joined by two new Deputy Commandants, Lt Colonel Thomas Fitzsimons and Lt Colonel Andrew Webster, all three senior officers will be working together over the coming years to continue and further the success of Merseyside Army Cadet Force.
